The Blog Experience

I never did a blog (or something like that) before. I enjoyed  this new experience, because I never took the time to write about different topics and also in english, and use this blog thing too. sometimes I don't like because often I have no time (or my very bad organization) and I delay in publishing.

Personally I think that helped me to improve my english, to expand my vocabulary, the corrections helped me to see my errors and I try to don't do it again.

Use blogs is a non very common tool to help the students to improve the writing skills in a english class, a technological creation for the benefit of learning seems like a great idea. Besides is a little more "interesting" for us, the students. A disadvantage is the obvious need of internet, if it "falls", you can't post the next blog.

As a suggestion... I don't have big suggestions, it's a good method and good blogs too, I would have liked to do more blogging about ourselves and to know the tastes of my classmates, and maybe some blogs about "random" things.

As I said I liked the opportunity, have my own blog, express my ideas and learn a bit more everyday.

My Faith in Humanity

Everyday in all the mass media, we saw news, terrible news, about war, murders, violence, hate, hunger, abuse... revealing that the world is getting worse. All of this is because the bad actions of people who can't measure the consequences of their decisions...people who can't see how they hurt the weaker, as harm us all, or just don't want to see.

With this video of "My Faith in Humanity Restored", just a little video of moments, as the tittle says, try to make you believe again that not all is lost (this caught my attention)

Just small examples, sometimes anonymous, of how people are capable of love, to give, to be generous, help the neighbor, of kindness, understanding, compassion, of ask for forgiveness and forgive, of friendship, to know that are more important things to worry about, to save the weaker, to be brave, to take care of others...

Is short but I recommend it, it fulfilled its mission with me, I hope with you too.

Here is the video.  Enjoy it.

Not all is lost...

English learning

According to my opinion the english is the world's language, although others languages are widely spoken around the world like chinese, spanish, japanese, german, etc... Wherever you go, you can communicate in english.

In Forestry is really necessary, because the most job opportunities and the market are abroad and the new information is in english too. So make obligatory english classes in university, in my opinion is a good initiative, but is required a better education in school.

I like very much the English 3 class, I learned english in school (the best I could ) , I didn't have any instance to reinforce my knowledge and learn new words and expressions. The only thing I would change, is increase the class hours or divide it in two days. So it could perform more evaluations and more work in class. but otherwise wouldn't be so intensive.

Personally I think that I need to improve my pronunciation, because I'm very shy, I can't speak in public and even more with fear of mispronouncing. hehe.

Superpowers and Science

As I said before, I love science fiction, since I was little I dreamed of having superpowers like magic or flying , so this particular article caught my attention.

The "Top 5 Science-borne Superpowers"!

With the current technology and human inventiveness today(and before) may be possible to have some amazing abilities, in this article of the HowStuffWorks web (here), are 5 superpowers, only imagined before in comics and fantasy movies, that soon we can use through science:

5. Seeing Through Walls
with a microwave radar that projects 3-D image of whatever is hiding behind the walls.
4. Defying Gravity
the scientists have been working to develop a synthetic adhesive that mimics the gecko's special ability to stick effortlessly to most of surfaces.
3. Superhuman Strength
with a titanium exoskeleton powered by hydraulics which make easy to heavy lifting.
2. Stopping Bullets
Bionic Body Armor, the device could sense when a bullet is on its way to you and also could compel you to move away from danger.
1. Manipulating the Weather
cloud seeding, a tecnic from 1940s, with chemicals(silver iodide, salt and ammonium nitrate) are shoot up to the clouds  to increase precipitation.

If I had to choose, personally, I opt for a mix of the bionic body armor and the exoskeleton with super strengh, like Iron man hehe. I don't like spy through the walls or be stick to the roof, but have a sunny day can be good too.

"Changing the education paradigms"

In this talk, Ken Robinson, talks about a worldwide reform of education and this is mainly for two reasons:

Economic: to teach children their place in the current economy.

Cultural: give them a cultural identity through education and they can pass it to the rest of the world (globalization).

Which is difficult because there're problems with the current education system:

- Try to advance with past mistakes.
- School dropouts, because have a college degree don't ensures a good job.
- Decrease in arts because it's more important for them teach math (decreasing the opportunities for children to release their creativity)
- "School as a factory", as has industrialized the process of education, and how children are treated as a group, rather than being treated as individuals.
- The false epidemic of ADHD(Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder) and how the system numbs our children with dangerous drugs and turn them into zombies.

And all of this trying to maintain an educational system designed for the era of industrial revolution.

I entirely agree with his approach to the topic. And we should get a prompt solution so, for the next generations, the education can be better.

My birthday picture :)

This is a picture of me at 2 years old exactly (if you can see the number 2 on the cake) at my birthday party, certainly it was taken by my dad mmm but I don't remember very well because  I was so young haha.

All is pink, in other pictures I saw that ALL was pink. I was through my pink period. So, the cake, napkins, glasses, food, hats with Mickey Mouse ears, and my clothes are pink :)

I don't remember everything, buy I remember my cousins here, my entire family, friends and especially the "piñata". :)

Regards :D

My favourite film is Big Fish

A movie by the director Tim Burton

The story revolves around a dying father and his son, who is trying to learn more about the incredible life of Edward Bloom( who called himself a storyteller, telling everybody his amazing stories: with giants, ghost towns, mermaids, siamese, a wolfman in a circus, witches and a really huge fish), his dad who is dying of cancer, by piecing the stories told by his father over the years together. Will (the son who hasn't spoken to him for years because he believes him to be a liar that never cared for his family) tries to bring the fantastic stories and understand the great feats, failings and most important, the truth about who his father really was.

It is a beautiful story full of fantasy, magic and amazing situations, and teaches you that sometimes it's better to simply... believe.

I really love this movie because it reminds me of my grandfather, whom I love very much.

The film is very "light" for the director who is rather "dark" in his others creations, and it makes the film really beautiful, and I like the director too :)

Cast:
Ewan McGregor
Albert Finney
Billy Crudup
Jessica Lange
Helena Bonham Carter
Marion Cotillard
and others great actors

My laptop

Well, my favorite piece of technology is my laptop, not all the computers, is old and consistently fails, is slow, has no much memory, I don't know if you can understand but it is mine and it is not the same as using another one.

I have had this one mmm since 3 years ago, and I use it really often, like every day jaja.

My dad says I'm addicted and obsessive with it, but my parents don't understand, If I want it or not, I always end by using the computer. either for entertainment (use social networks, read on-line books(I don't have money to buy :( ), watch movies and tv series(no money D:!) , download music(damn money), play games, etc..) or for homework and study.

I think the computer (and the internet definitely) is, for me, something really necessary: to communicate, study or just have fun. the Computer makes life easier than before the "age of technology".

Bye :)

Lollapalooza

The last one I went to was not a concert specifically, but it was a festival: Lollapalooza.
Two days (March 31 and  April 1), about sixty artists and not enough time to see them all. But it was amazing. Not only was live music incredible, let me tell you how it was...

The event took place in the O'Higgins park, a huge place. and it started at about twelve o'clock, not eleven o'clock in the morning, as the production promised. but when they opened the doors I forgot all the heat and the crowd.

There were six stages, with bands playing most of the time, immediately when one band went out, another one entered.

As I said before, it was not only music. there was a "market" where you could buy organic food, independent designers clothes (my cousin, who studies design, was selling her clothes), accessories, etc. Also other stands of Greenpeace and other organizations asking for signatures for their causes. A lot of people in charge of recycling the trash. A lot of gifts from the sponsors and wow so many things I can't remember exactly right now.

Some of the great artists were: Arctic Monkeys, MGMT, Foo Fighters, Bjork and many, many others..

It was amazing and unforgettable.

Definitely I'll be there next year.

It's all about me n_n

I was born on a rainy day, May 19, 1991. I studied the elementary school between Pedro de Valdivia school and Santa Maria school where I continued secondary school.

I'm an only child, We're just me and my parents, those who, by the way are divorced. But I have three aunts and an uncle and a lot of cousins.

I love to watch movies, TV series, read books, I'm a passionate reader, especially science fiction and fantasy. But my favorite hobby is certainly drawing, I think I'm pretty good at it.

Also I practice Judo, it's very intensive but relaxing after the training, it gives me mental peace.

For the latest weeks I have been trying to learn to drive, but I don't think I have learned much. At least I haven't crashed the car...yet. lol.

Well that's a little piece of my life. I hope to see you soon.
Bye.
